Verdict in María Clara Urdangaray case to be announced this Thursday

The verdict in the case of María Clara Urdangaray, the 27-year-old woman from La Plata who died in Kosovo after being allegedly pushed by her partner, Endrit Nika, will be announced this Thursday, February 19, in European courts. According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), the fatal incident occurred on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in the Kosovar capital of Pristina, in a hotel where the victim was living with the accused. He is the sole accused in the murder and has been in custody since three days after the incident. The fatal outcome is said to have followed an argument at the hostel where they were staying, in preparation for the accused's brother's wedding. At that moment, the young woman was taken to a health center, but she did not survive. Magdalena Delmonte and Facundo Urdangaray, the victim's parents, are in the Old Continent and witnessed every instance of the trial, seeking justice for their daughter's death in the same venue where the final arguments were heard on February 16. Before the press from La Plata, Delmonte revealed that during the hearing, state prosecutor Armend Hamiti requested that Nika be found guilty, while the relatives presented their status as injured parties through their lawyer, Betim Shala. The victim's father had considered the incident a femicide days after the first expert reports pointed to the 34-year-old architect as the focus of the scene.
